At the ‘golden dawn’ of the wild capitalism in Russia few branches of the economy were more lucrative than the computer hardware trade. This was the starting point of many successful careers. There was a reason why this business eventually fell off the trend: high competition and the decline of profits made it less attractive. But in the said times Moscow was dominated by several trade giants. One of them is RiK (which is an abbreviation for ‘Roga & Kopyta’, named after a fictional company). Mikhail Dvornikov (aka Mikchail Dvornikov) was the proud founder of it, and it was a centre hub for smuggled goods of all kinds. The entire ex-USSR used to buy computer parts here for the further resale.
